Abadan

Abadan is a port city in southwestern Iran on Abadan Island, near the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab. Its major oil refinery made it a center of Iran’s petroleum industry.

Abadan Refinery: An oil refinery in Abadan that became one of the world’s largest in the mid-20th century. Its growth transformed the city into a major petroleum and industrial center.
