Abbasid Caliphate

The Abbasid Caliphate was an Islamic dynasty founded in 750 that ruled a vast empire from Baghdad for much of its history. Its political unity weakened over time, though Abbasid caliphs remained in Baghdad until the Mongol conquest in 1258.
