Abdullah al-Sallal

Abdullah al-Sallal was a Yemeni military officer and politician who led the 1962 revolution and became the first president of the Yemen Arab Republic.

North Yemen Civil War: A 1962–1970 conflict between republican forces and royalists over the government of North Yemen. Al-Sallal’s revolution triggered this struggle over whether Yemen would remain a monarchy.
