Knowra Abkhazia Abkhazia Abkhazia is a Black Sea territory internationally recognized as part of Georgia. Since the 1990s, it has been governed by a de facto state backed by Russia.
Abkhaz–Georgian conflict : A conflict over Abkhazia’s political status and control, fought chiefly between Abkhaz and Georgian forces. Its wars established the separation between Abkhazia’s authorities and Georgia’s government.
