Abu al-Abbas al-Saffah

Abu al-Abbas al-Saffah was the first Abbasid caliph, ruling from 750 to 754 after the Abbasid revolution overthrew the Umayyad caliphate.

Abbasid Revolution: The uprising that ended Umayyad rule and established the Abbasid caliphate in 750. Its victory made al-Saffah caliph and founded the dynasty he led.
