Achaean League

The Achaean League was a federal alliance of Greek cities in the Peloponnese, prominent in the third and second centuries BCE. Its member communities shared institutions while retaining local governments.

Social War (220–217 BC): A war in which Macedon and the Achaean League fought the Aetolian League and its allies. The League’s participation tied its fortunes to Macedonian power in Greece.
Boeotian League: A federation of cities in Boeotia, centered on Thebes, that changed form across ancient Greek history. Its regional federation offers a comparison with Achaean institutions and political unity.
