Acta Diurna

The Acta Diurna were public notices of official proceedings and other events circulated in ancient Rome, traditionally displayed in public places.

Roman Forum: The central public square of ancient Rome, surrounded by political, religious, and commercial buildings. The Forum was among the public settings associated with displaying official notices.
Julius Caesar: Roman general and statesman who became dictator and was assassinated in 44 BCE. Suetonius attributes the regular posting of Senate and people’s proceedings to Caesar.
