An actor is a performer who portrays characters in theater, film, or television through speech, movement, and other expressive choices.

Method acting: An acting approach that draws on an actor’s emotional and sensory experience to create a performance. It is one influential way actors prepare emotionally for a role.
Character: A person or other being represented in a narrative work. An actor’s performance gives a character a visible, audible presence.
Theatre: The live performance of dramatic or other works before an audience. Theater is the setting in which actors perform continuously before a present audience.
Konstantin Stanislavski: A Russian theatre practitioner whose acting system influenced modern performance and actor training. His methods reshaped how actors prepare roles and pursue believable behavior.
Dancer: A performer who uses patterned bodily movement as an expressive or artistic practice. Dance may involve characterization, but movement rather than dramatic portrayal is its defining focus.
