Adélie Land

Adélie Land is a region of East Antarctica claimed by France, extending inland from the coast between approximately 136° and 142° east longitude.

Jules Dumont d'Urville: Jules Dumont d'Urville was a French naval officer and explorer who led expeditions to Antarctica and Oceania. His 1840 expedition landed on the coast and named the region for his wife, Adèle.
Antarctica: Antarctica is the southernmost continent, surrounding the geographic South Pole and largely covered by ice. Adélie Land is a coastal and inland region within East Antarctica.
Dumont d'Urville Station: Dumont d'Urville Station is a French research base on the coast of Adélie Land. It is the principal year-round French scientific presence in the claimed territory.
