Knowra Adrenarche Adrenarche Adrenarche is the developmental maturation of the adrenal cortex, marked by rising production of adrenal androgens. It usually begins several years before gonadal puberty.
Zona reticularis : The inner layer of the adrenal cortex that produces adrenal androgens. Its maturation is the anatomical basis of rising adrenal androgen output.
Gonadarche : The onset of reproductive maturation driven by increased activity of the ovaries or testes. It is a separate developmental process, despite often occurring near adrenarche.
Pubarche : The appearance of pubic hair, which can result from adrenal androgen activity or gonadal puberty. It is a visible sign often associated with adrenarche, but does not identify its cause alone.
Adrenal zona reticularis development : The postnatal structural and functional maturation of the adrenal cortex's androgen-producing inner layer. Its cellular changes are central to adrenarche, but their developmental controls remain incompletely understood.
