Agave

Agave is a genus of succulent plants native to the Americas, recognized by rosettes of stiff leaves that often have spines and terminal points. Many species flower once after years of growth.

Monocotyledon: A flowering plant whose seedling typically has one embryonic leaf. Agave belongs to this major flowering-plant lineage.
Tequila: A distilled spirit made from the cooked hearts of blue agave, primarily in designated regions of Mexico. Blue agave is the sole plant used to make tequila.
