Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar

Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar founded Iran’s Qajar dynasty and ruled as shah from 1789 until his assassination in 1797. He reunified much of Iran after decades of political fragmentation.

Qajar dynasty: The Iranian dynasty that ruled from 1789 to 1925, founded by Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar. His conquest established the dynasty and its claim to rule Iran.
Battle of Krtsanisi: A 1795 battle in which Agha Mohammad Khan’s forces captured and devastated Tbilisi. The campaign demonstrated how he enforced Iranian claims over Georgia.
Fath-Ali Shah Qajar: The second Qajar shah, who ruled Iran from 1797 to 1834. He succeeded Agha Mohammad Khan and continued the dynasty’s rule.
