Ahmad al-Mansur

Ahmad al-Mansur was a Saadi sultan of Morocco from 1578 to 1603. He strengthened Saadi rule and extended Moroccan power into the western Sudan.

Saadi dynasty: A Moroccan dynasty that ruled from the sixteenth century until the rise of the Alaouite dynasty. Al-Mansur inherited its throne and made Saadi authority more formidable.
Makhzen: The Moroccan state apparatus and governing elite organized around the monarch and central administration. Al-Mansur strengthened this machinery to collect revenue and extend royal control.
