Aichi Prefecture

A prefecture in central Japan on Honshu, with Nagoya as its capital. It includes the industrial Chūkyō region and a Pacific coastline along Ise and Mikawa bays.

Nagoya: Aichi Prefecture’s capital and largest city, and one of Japan’s major urban and industrial centers. Nagoya is the prefectural capital and the core of Aichi’s largest metropolitan area.
Toyota Motor Corporation: A Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. Toyota’s headquarters and extensive operations anchor the prefecture’s automotive economy.
Owari Province: A former Japanese province occupying the western part of present-day Aichi Prefecture. Its territory became the western foundation of modern Aichi.
Chūbu Region: A broad region of central Honshu that includes Aichi Prefecture and several neighboring prefectures. Aichi is commonly grouped with Chūbu, despite its strong ties to other regions.
Chūkyō Metropolitan Area: A major Japanese metropolitan region centered on Nagoya and extending across surrounding parts of Aichi and neighboring prefectures. This urban region links Nagoya with Aichi’s surrounding cities and industries.
Chūkyō Industrial Zone: A major Japanese industrial region centered on Nagoya and spanning parts of Aichi and neighboring prefectures. Aichi forms the core of this manufacturing zone, especially in vehicles and machinery.
Mikawa Province: A former Japanese province occupying the eastern part of present-day Aichi Prefecture. Its territory became the eastern foundation of modern Aichi.
Mie Prefecture: A prefecture southwest of Aichi, bordering Ise Bay and the Kii Peninsula. Mie shares Ise Bay with Aichi and is closely connected through regional transport and trade.
Mikawa: The eastern part of Aichi Prefecture, historically distinct from Owari and centered on cities including Toyohashi and Okazaki. Mikawa is one of the two historical regions that make up modern Aichi.
Port of Nagoya: A major Japanese seaport in Ise Bay serving Nagoya and the surrounding industrial region. It handles international trade for Aichi’s manufacturers and is Japan’s largest port by cargo volume.
