AIDS activism

AIDS activism is organized advocacy, education, fundraising, and mutual support responding to HIV and AIDS. It has pressed governments, researchers, and health institutions to expand treatment, prevention, and the rights of affected people.

ACT UP: AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power is an international grassroots organization founded in New York in 1987 to end the AIDS crisis. Its direct-action campaigns made AIDS activism visible and demanded faster treatment access.
