Ailuridae

Ailuridae is a family of carnivorous mammals that includes the living red panda and several extinct relatives. Its members are distinguished by adaptations associated with climbing and, in the red panda, feeding largely on bamboo.

Red panda: A small arboreal mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, and the only living member of Ailuridae. It is the sole surviving species in this family.
Ailuravus: An extinct genus of early ailurids known from Eocene fossils in Europe. It represents some of the earliest known members of the family.
