Aimé Césaire

Aimé Césaire (1913–2008) was a Martinican poet, playwright, and politician whose writing helped shape Négritude and challenge colonialism.

Négritude: A literary and political movement affirming Black identity and culture in response to colonialism and racism. Césaire coined the term and helped establish the movement through poetry and political writing.
