Alabama

Alabama is a southeastern U.S. state bordered by the Gulf of Mexico. Its Eocene marine deposits have yielded fossils of the ancient whale Basilosaurus.

Basilosaurus: An extinct Eocene whale with an elongated body and reduced hind limbs. Its fossils are among Alabama’s best-known Eocene discoveries.
