Alain Resnais

Alain Resnais (1922–2014) was a French film director and screenwriter whose formally inventive films explored memory, time, and historical trauma.

Hiroshima mon amour: A 1959 film by Alain Resnais, written by Marguerite Duras, interweaving a brief affair in Hiroshima with memories of wartime Nevers. Its interlaced memories established Resnais’s international reputation for formally daring cinema.
