Albert Kesselring

Albert Kesselring (1885–1960) was a German field marshal who commanded Axis forces in the Mediterranean during World War II and organized the defense of Italy.

Erwin Rommel: A German field marshal who commanded Axis forces in North Africa during World War II. Rommel’s African campaign preceded Kesselring’s command of Axis forces in the Mediterranean.
Gustav Line: A German defensive system across central Italy, anchored by positions around Monte Cassino. It was the strongest line Kesselring used to block the Allied advance toward Rome.
