Albert Soboul

Albert Soboul (1914–1982) was a French Marxist historian of the French Revolution, known for his scholarship on the sans-culottes and revolutionary Paris.

Sans-culottes: Radical urban workers, artisans, and small traders who shaped popular politics during the French Revolution. Soboul made their social composition and political role central to his historical work.
Historical materialism: An approach to history that explains social change through material conditions and relations of production. Soboul used a Marxist framework to connect political events with social structure.
