Alcuin of York

Alcuin of York was an English scholar, cleric, and teacher who led Charlemagne’s palace school and helped shape Carolingian educational reform.

Charlemagne: The Frankish king who became emperor in 800 and expanded Carolingian rule across western and central Europe. Charlemagne invited Alcuin to court and relied on his scholarship and counsel.
