Alec Guinness

Alec Guinness (1914–2000) was an English actor whose career ranged from Shakespearean stage roles and British comedies to acclaimed films, including The Bridge on the River Kwai and Star Wars.

The Bridge on the River Kwai: David Lean’s 1957 war film follows British prisoners forced to build a railway bridge in Japanese-occupied Burma. Guinness won the Academy Award for Best Actor for playing Colonel Nicholson.
