Knowra Aleksey Yermolov Aleksey Yermolov Aleksey Yermolov was a Russian general and statesman who commanded Russian forces in the Caucasus from 1816 to 1827 and pursued a forceful expansion of imperial rule.
Russo-Persian War (1804–1813) : A war between the Russian and Qajar empires that ended with Russian gains in the South Caucasus. Yermolov served in this war and helped establish the military reputation behind his later command.
Russian conquest of the Caucasus : The nineteenth-century expansion of Russian imperial power across the Caucasus through warfare, annexation, and administration. Yermolov’s command advanced this longer process through military pressure and fortified lines.
