Alfred von Tirpitz

Alfred von Tirpitz (1849–1930) was a German admiral and politician who directed the expansion of the Imperial German Navy. His fleet-building program sought to make Germany a major naval power and helped intensify rivalry with Britain.

Wilhelm II: Wilhelm II was German emperor from 1888 until the monarchy ended in 1918. The emperor appointed Tirpitz state secretary of the Imperial Navy Office and backed his fleet ambitions.
