Ali al-Hadi

Ali al-Hadi was the tenth Imam of Twelver Shia Islam, leading the community from Medina and Samarra until his death in 868.

Hasan al-Askari: The eleventh Imam of Twelver Shia Islam, who succeeded Ali al-Hadi and was the father of Muhammad al-Mahdi. His son and successor inherited leadership of the Twelver community.
Imamate in Twelver Shia Islam: The divinely guided leadership of the Muslim community, vested in a line of Imams in Twelver Shia belief. Ali al-Hadi’s authority rests on this doctrine of hereditary, divinely guided leadership.
