Ali ibn Abi Talib

Ali ibn Abi Talib was Muhammad’s cousin and son-in-law, the fourth caliph in Sunni accounts and the first Imam in Shia Islam. His leadership and death became central to the Sunni–Shia division.

Muhammad: Muhammad was the religious, political, and military leader who founded Islam in seventh-century Arabia. Ali was Muhammad’s cousin, son-in-law, close companion, and successor in Shia belief.

Assassination of Ali: Ali was mortally wounded by the Kharijite Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam in Kufa in 661. His assassination ended his caliphate and became a defining episode in Shia memory.
Hasan ibn Ali: Hasan ibn Ali was Ali’s son and the second Imam in Twelver Shia Islam. Hasan succeeded Ali as caliph briefly and became a key figure in the family’s political history.
First Fitna: The First Fitna was the first major civil war in the early Muslim community, fought from 656 to 661. Ali’s caliphate was dominated by this conflict over political authority and justice.
