Allied-occupied Germany

Germany under military rule by the United States, Britain, France, and the Soviet Union after World War II, divided into four occupation zones.

Allied Control Council: The four-power governing body established to administer Germany after its defeat in World War II. It coordinated occupation policy across zones, though each power retained authority in its own zone.
Federal Republic of Germany: The West German state founded in 1949 from the American, British, and French occupation zones. It emerged from the western occupation zones as their military governments gave way to a German state.
