Allvar Gullstrand

Allvar Gullstrand (1862–1930) was a Swedish ophthalmologist and optical physicist who studied the eye’s refractive properties and won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Ocular optics: The study of how the eye’s structures form images by refracting and focusing light. This broader field frames Gullstrand’s mathematical treatment of the eye.
