Amami Islands

The Amami Islands are a Japanese island group in the northern Ryukyu Islands, between Kyushu and Okinawa. Their subtropical forests support distinctive endemic wildlife.

Amami Ōshima: The largest island in the Amami group, known for subtropical forest, mangroves, and endemic species. Its forests and wetlands anchor much of the archipelago’s conservation profile.
