Knowra Amharic Amharic Amharic is a Semitic language spoken chiefly in Ethiopia. It is the federal government’s official working language and is written in the Ethiopic script.

Tigrinya : A Semitic language spoken chiefly in Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. Tigrinya is a close Ethiopian Semitic relative, but it is distinct from Amharic in sound and grammar.
Ethiopian Semitic languages : A branch of Semitic languages spoken in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Amharic belongs to this branch, alongside languages such as Tigrinya and Gurage.
Amharic literature : Written literary works composed in Amharic, including poetry, drama, and prose. The language’s literary tradition extends from religious writing to modern novels and poetry.
