Amrita Sher-Gil

Amrita Sher-Gil (1913–1941) was an Indian-Hungarian modernist painter whose portraits and depictions of Indian life helped shape modern Indian art.

Modernism: A broad movement that challenged inherited artistic conventions through experimentation with form, perception, and subject matter. Her paintings adapted modernist approaches rather than simply imitating academic realism.
