Socratic method : A question-driven practice that tests claims by exposing assumptions and contradictions. Socrates made examination of definitions and beliefs a defining philosophical practice.
Plato : An Athenian philosopher whose dialogues address reality, knowledge, justice, and the ideal city. His Academy and writings became a major source for later Greek philosophical debate.
