André Weil

André Weil (1906–1998) was a French mathematician whose work connected number theory, algebraic geometry, and the theory of algebraic groups.

Algebraic geometry: The study of geometric objects defined by polynomial equations. Weil used geometric methods to expose structure in number-theoretic problems.
