Anna Akhmatova

Anna Akhmatova (1889–1966) was a Russian poet whose spare, emotionally direct verse shaped the Silver Age and bore witness to Soviet repression.

Acmeism: A Russian poetic movement that favored concrete imagery, lucid language, and craftsmanship. Akhmatova helped define this movement with her early, sharply shaped poems.
