Annie Girardot

Annie Girardot (1931–2011) was a French film, stage, and television actress whose career ranged from postwar dramas and popular comedies to Michael Haneke’s The Piano Teacher.

Rocco and His Brothers: Luchino Visconti’s 1960 film follows a family from southern Italy struggling to settle in Milan. Girardot’s Nadia is central to the film’s tragic love triangle.
César Award for Best Actress: A French film award honoring the leading actress in a film. Girardot won it for Docteur Françoise Gailland in 1977.
