Anomalous magnetic dipole moment

The anomalous magnetic dipole moment is a particle’s magnetic moment minus its Dirac-equation prediction. For a spin-½ particle, it is commonly expressed as the dimensionless quantity a = (g − 2)/2.

Gyromagnetic ratio: The ratio relating a particle’s magnetic moment to its angular momentum. The anomaly is usually reported as the departure of this ratio from the Dirac value of 2.
Electron magnetic moment: The magnetic dipole moment associated with an electron’s spin. Its anomalous part is among the most precisely tested predictions in physics.
