Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams (1902–1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist known for sharply detailed black-and-white images of the American West and for advancing photographic technique.

Zone System: A photographic exposure and development method that relates scene brightness to the tones recorded in a final image. Adams co-developed this method to control exposure and tonal values in black-and-white negatives and prints.
