Anthracene

Anthracene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with three linearly fused benzene rings. Its crystalline form fluoresces under ultraviolet light, supporting uses in dyes, scintillators, and organic electronics.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon: A hydrocarbon composed of multiple fused aromatic rings. Anthracene is a three-ring member of this family.
Benzene: A six-carbon aromatic molecule with a planar ring of delocalized electrons. Three benzene-like rings form anthracene's fused framework.
