Antonin Artaud

Antonin Artaud was a French writer, poet, actor, and theatre theorist. His Theatre of Cruelty sought to unsettle audiences through sensory intensity rather than conventional dramatic storytelling.

Theatre of Cruelty: A theatrical approach Artaud proposed to confront audiences with intense sensory and emotional experiences. This is Artaud’s best-known proposal for transforming performance into an assault on complacency.
