Anyang

Anyang is the archaeological site of Yin, a late Shang capital in Henan, China, where royal tombs, palaces, workshops, and inscribed oracle bones have been excavated.

Yinxu: Yinxu is the archaeological site identified with Yin, the late Shang capital near modern Anyang. This is the formal archaeological name for the capital site.
Shang dynasty: The Shang dynasty was an early Chinese dynasty, conventionally dated to about 1600–1046 BCE. Anyang served as a major royal center during the dynasty's late period.
Pan Geng: Pan Geng was a Shang king whom later historical tradition credits with moving the capital to Yin. Tradition links the establishment of the Yin capital with his reign.

Oracle bone script: Oracle bone script is the earliest substantial corpus of Chinese writing, inscribed on animal bones and turtle plastrons. Inscriptions from Anyang preserve the script in its earliest extensive form.
Shang royal tombs: Shang royal tombs are large elite burials containing human remains, ritual objects, and other grave goods. Anyang's tombs expose the resources and ceremonies surrounding royal death.
