April

April is the fourth month of the Gregorian calendar and has 30 days. In the Northern Hemisphere it falls in spring, while in the Southern Hemisphere it falls in autumn.

Roman calendar: A system of timekeeping used in ancient Rome, revised several times before the Julian calendar. April began as a month in Rome’s early calendar.
Month: A unit of time based on a division of a year or, historically, a cycle of lunar phases. April is one of the twelve months in the Gregorian year.
April Fools' Day: An annual custom of playing pranks on 1 April. It is a widely recognized observance on April’s first day.

Julius Caesar: Roman leader whose calendar reform established the Julian calendar in 46 BCE. His reform helped fix April’s position and length in the calendar.
Leap year: A calendar year containing an extra day to keep the calendar aligned with Earth’s orbit. Leap years alter February, leaving April’s length unchanged.
