Arsaces I of Parthia

Arsaces I was the founder of the Arsacid dynasty, which established an independent kingdom in Parthia during the third century BCE.

Parni: The eastern Iranian nomadic people who migrated into Parthia and founded the Arsacid kingdom. Arsaces led the Parni as they seized control of Parthia.
Arsacid dynasty: The Iranian ruling house that governed the Parthian Empire and later branches of Armenia and Iberia. Arsaces gave his name to the dynasty that traced its rule to him.
Parthian Empire: An Iranian empire that dominated parts of western and central Asia from the third century BCE to the third century CE. It was the larger imperial state that grew from the kingdom Arsaces founded.
