Artturi Ilmari Virtanen

Artturi Ilmari Virtanen (1895–1973) was a Finnish chemist whose research in agricultural and food chemistry earned the 1945 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. His AIV method preserved fodder by acidifying it.

AIV method: A fodder-preservation method that uses acidification to inhibit spoilage during storage. Virtanen developed this method to preserve green fodder without losing its nutritional value.
