ASEAN enlargement : The process by which ASEAN expanded from five founding members to ten members between 1984 and 1999. Expansion brought nearly all of Southeast Asia into a shared regional framework.
African Union : A continental organization of African states pursuing political and economic integration and cooperation. Its broader continental mandate and institutions offer a different model of regional organization.
ASEAN Free Trade Area : An agreement among ASEAN members to reduce tariffs and promote trade within the region. It demonstrates how ASEAN translated cooperation into regional trade liberalization.
