Asia (Roman province)

Asia was a Roman province in western Anatolia, formed from the former kingdom of Pergamon after its last king bequeathed his realm to Rome in 133 BCE.

Kingdom of Pergamon: A Hellenistic kingdom in western Anatolia ruled by the Attalid dynasty from its capital at Pergamon. Its territory became the core of the Roman province after Attalus III's bequest.
Roman provincial governor: A Roman magistrate or promagistrate appointed to govern a territory outside Italy. Governors exercised Rome's authority over Asia's cities and provincial affairs.
