Knowra Asiatic lion Asiatic lion The Asiatic lion is a population of lions native to India, now confined to the Gir Forest region of Gujarat. It is distinguished from African lions by a prominent fold of skin along its belly.
Lion : A large social cat species, Panthera leo, native to parts of Africa and a small region of India. The Asiatic lion is the Indian population of this wider species.
Asiatic lion conservation : The protection and management of Asiatic lions, their habitat, and their prey, principally in Gujarat. This work includes monitoring, habitat protection, and conflict management.
