Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead by Nathuram Godse in New Delhi on 30 January 1948, amid conflict over Partition and Gandhi’s efforts to promote Hindu–Muslim reconciliation.

Nathuram Godse: An Indian Hindu nationalist who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi in 1948. Godse approached Gandhi and shot him during a public prayer gathering.
