Athaliah was queen of Judah who seized the throne after her son Ahaziah died and ruled for six years before being overthrown and killed.

Ahaziah of Judah: Ahaziah was king of Judah for about a year before his death at the hands of Jehu. His death created the succession crisis Athaliah used to claim Judah’s throne.
Ahab: Ahab was a ninth-century BCE king of Israel and a member of the Omride dynasty. As Athaliah’s father, he links her to the dynasty whose influence reached Judah.

Jehoiada: Jehoiada was a priest in Jerusalem who organized Joash’s protection and Athaliah’s overthrow. He sheltered the heir and led the coup that ended her rule.
Omri: Omri was king of Israel and founder of the Omride dynasty, which ruled in the ninth century BCE. Athaliah belonged to the ruling house Omri established through her father Ahab.
