Atlanta

Atlanta is the capital and largest city of Georgia, a major center of Black political, educational, and cultural life in the United States.

Atlanta campaign: A 1963 campaign of protests and negotiations that challenged racial segregation in Atlanta. The campaign tested the city’s image of gradual racial progress against demands for immediate change.
Martin Luther King Jr.: An American Baptist minister and civil rights leader who advocated nonviolent resistance to racial segregation. Born and raised in Atlanta, King became a defining figure in the city’s civil rights history.
